What does Formal Attire mean?

“As the wording here suggests, this dress code is slightly less formal than a black-tie wedding. So, a tuxedo isn't required. When picking out a suit, please choose one of the more formal side (not linen). For women, the outfit choices remain the same: a floor-length dress, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit. In fact, for women there isn't much of a difference between black-tie and formal attire, although it’s more acceptable to wear a dress that shows the ankles (which is not true of a black-tie dress code).”

Foot Wear?

Please note that the majority of the wedding day’s festivities will be taking place outside. We strongly suggest wearing shoes that will work on the grass lawn, slate patio and stairs, as well as on the wooden dance floor!
